Last Summer Flashback

About a month ago, I was part of a small art/fashion reception where I 'modeled' alongside real models like Mika Kenyah, Niazja Blessed and Emilia Batgirl for Chablis Designs. It was fun though!

What the designer also does is do video for LSSTV and he reminded me to check out the video they took at last summer's fashion show at Times Scare in NYC.

Well here it is! My assistant Connie is featured halfway through and has the most wonderful things to say. She's so supportive and helpful. I'm at the very end because I was running around like a nut and couldn't talk more.

Sibyl Vain at The SFX Party

The whole group! Me and all the lovely models that rocked the new collection at The SFX Party in NYC at R Bar. So gorgeous.

(left to right) Belinda, Erin Poland, Gigi Rose, Melissa Saurus Wrecks, Me, Angelana Jones, Mika Kenyah, Katrina RM and Niazja Blessed

And if you want more info on these gorgeous ladies, check out the fanpage and links are all around.

Above photos are by Mark Williams and the following were taken by the crazy Falling Down on the Random.

What also blew me away for the night was the stellar make-up by DiscoMakeupAire and...OMG. Amelia of A is for Arsenic did the most amazing pin-up hair and lent out jewelry for the night. STUNNING!

It was such a party and everyone had so much fun. It was probably the smoothest shows I've done. Usually I'm running around and going nuts, but this one ran like clockwork. Which made me a little nervous something bad was going to happen, but I think the worst was that I went home before 2am.

Cake Boss and Who?

Earlier this month, I got to be the designer for a fashion show put on by Mika of Sugar & Spikes Casting and Kitty Crystal the Tattoed Artist.

Look! That's them!

It was a crazy day because we got hit with a bad snow storm and made driving not fun, but cake waits for no man! Funny thing, the original filming date was supposed to be on a day when we also got a big storm.

It was rush rush time fitting models and being selfish so I could get my hair and makeup done, haha. It was intense watching Kitty do the special effects makeup on the models. They got 'Walking Dead-afied.' And what was also just amazing was that Ashley from Cake Boss/Next Great Baker was a model for me. Whoa.

Once production gave us a 20 minute heads up, I started freaking out. We walked over to an unconventional runway and waited for the cue. The audience was not disappointed by the models and did I mention the most amazing cake that was brought? Can't tell you about it except that Mika and Kitty had a big part in it!

Not too sure when the episode will air - I think after the summer. Sucks waiting, but gives more time to plan a huge viewing party!

Queen of the Jungle...Long Overdue Recap

Back in January, on a freezing night, Brooklyn Wildlife and La Bella Roma transformed a small NYC lounge into the jungle! I was asked by Mika of Sugar & Spikes to provide clothing for the fashion show part of the night. Alongside killer make-up artists (Devin Dollface Alexis, Crystal Cakeface) and hair stylists (Gloria Espinoza), we made these girls show their animalistic side with Mika taming them as they made their walk into the crowd. (I've forgotten some names, let me know if you see who I've forgotten)

It was a fun night and the main event was a beauty pageant between burlesque performers and drag queens! Too many beautiful ladies all around.

Afterwards, me, my sister and her good friend hit up Otto's Shrunken Head in NYC and got glow in the dark drinks and danced to doo-wop. And of course, ended the evening with disco fries at the nearby diner. You can catch those adventures on my Instagram - SibylVain

A Thank You to Jeremy Scott

Dear Jeremy Scott,

Your past collections have been full of humor, tackling not only huge trademark imagery, but also God. Sometimes I don't understand you, but when I see the reaction of fans and how you're designs infiltrate pop culture, I realize your genius. I anxiously awaited for the live stream of your Fall 2012 show to start and didn't mind having to watch snobby hipsters and celebs that think they're cutting edge because they can attend your show take front and center seats at Milk Studios. But it was all forgotten when your first model took the runway and I knew what I had long desired for was about to unfold.

I am SICK of the revival of grunge. At first it was cool, but now is annoying. Brooklyn Hipster fashion needs to be shot and while I'll always be a fan of thrift and vintage store shopping, wearing head-to-toe thrift finds is messy and boring.

The other week, I heard Spice Girls are probably coming back around again. I've also been calculating when the Clueless look would be up to bat as it suceeded the drab and blandness of the grunge period. While the love of color and fun wasn't offically killed, I feel you've brought it back to life with your newest collection. Two piece otufits, 70's large bellbottoms in knits, pastel metallics, Lisa Frank memories - you sent a model with a unicorn proudly displayed on her dress - and my memories of being a young tween with my AOL started CD and finally getting to go online for a few minutes before the connection timed out all live here.

Love, Unicorns and Fluffy Kittens Always,
Alison

P.S. - I hope you don't mind, but I am obsessed with the rainbow t-shirt-ish dress and since I am poor, will be making my own if I can find the material.

Gaultier's Winehouse Couture

I just flipped out over Gaultier's Spring 2012 Couture show. It was beautiful, magical and clearly was honoring someone who Gaultier loved.

It's Winehouse Couture - the non-grungy/dirty version of how she dressed. And then at the end, he resends the models out with first dark veils and then white and pastel veils. It was a beautiful reflection on her style, then mournful and now angelic.

This collection is just stunning. It feeds the need of the 1950's badgirl, diva and 1980's party girl a la Madonna. Just love.

The first look clearly sets the tone for what the collection is about. The second and third image just show the re-interpretation of a blazer and then it seems like the biker jacket is a cape. And who doesn't love an 80's party dress?

Reflections 2010! Pt. 1

www.ReflectionsProject.com

for more info and fun

OK! My collection shown at Reflections was inspired by sideshow and circus acts. Each look was a particular character and my interpretation of them. Check out the photos below.

I'm going around stealing photos and waiting for more - I really wish I had enlisted my one friend to take photos with my camera. Oh wells...

SO much happened at Reflections 2010, held at Polaris nightclub in Philadelphia. It's crazy how you go in, thinking there's like 8 hours till your show takes the stage and you can kick back and slowly get things together and then it's like BAM! 30 minutes before the models take the stage.

Got there after lunchtime, went and got food, started setting up then it was like - hurdles popped up, got caught in conversations, went back and forth with what outfit each model should wear...that my friend is how 2pm quickly becomes 8pm.

It was cool because there was artwork being displayed and me and the main woman behind the event, Rebecca Marchand, are big AFI freaks and there was AFI-related pieces that put a smile on my face.

This is Part 1 of the my Reflections experience and I guess, I'm going to start with the end result - it was awesome! If you missed it, you suck.

I did leave around midnight, which is when the real fun began, but a 2 hour drive back home was not something I wanted to tackle at 2am on 5 hours of sleep.

I'll end with images. So far it's all I've found and are super awesome. This photographer shot Reflections last year and his images were my favorite of the bunch and this year was no different.

Almost Here!

Just about a week away is the Reflections Art & Fashion event. SOOOOOO much stuff I need to get together - I feel really behind this summer, but it was kinda a stressful/depressing summer.

Anyways! www.ReflectionsProject.com for more information on everything and how you can buy tickets beforehand, what to expect and more.

Of course my clothing line is always number one in my heart, but I've been really bummed I haven't written for the magazine I write for in about two months - ouch. I'm looking ahead though to all the great concerts coming up in the fall - free tickets! haha

But now at my day job, they're slowly making me a telemarketer. What the...
I'm just such a spaz on the phone, I stumble over my words like whoa - I guess that's why all my interviews had to be scripted, which was a complaint I received from a couple people helping me become better in my writing.

I'll leave you with another killer image from Tiffany Ann Photography, featuring Chloe Von Creepy (who is also going to be at Reflections!). More from Tiffany Ann with Trailer Darling & Miss Mischief modeling.

Rock n' Roll Fashion Show

Ok, so about two weeks ago...

I was SO grateful to be asked again by the ladies of Sugar n' Spikes to participate in their second fashion show event. Bands of the night were TSI, Panzie & Hate in the Box (whose lead singer, Rainbow Blight, is the sweetest!).

My collection went first, followed by the debut of Alina Butnaru's intimate apparel awesomeness (have to find her link, b/c she was so cool) and then last was Natasha NYC (NatashaNYC.com - and dude! If I had known better, I would have been freaking out being in her presence, but of course I'm dumb sometimes)

Ok! So here's some of the choice images - I'm waiting on video

These were taken by Knightmare6 Photography and are my favorites so far - http://www.knightmare6.com/

I'll be adding more to Facebook - so add me there if you haven't already (link to the right)

Forest rocking polka dot leggings, white pvc bustier & tassle shrug with hobo bow gloves. She killed it!

Olivia in pink leopard garter dress (accessories her own) - so cute!

Ilena Nova being Wonder Woman in red metallic bodysuit and polka dot peak-a-boo vest, which you really can't see, but isn't this shot to die for?

Gorgeous Brandy D in leopard leotard and revamped vest

Awesome Sasha being lady-like in a high waisted sparkle skirt and leopard crop top, belt does make it look one piece, but it's not

Tons more images from Tiffany Ann Photography to come, review of another fashion show/concert I attended, magazine mentions and a sorta top secret project I'm apart of.
